My First Crochet Pillowcase

crochet, DIY, Home Furnishing

Hello Creatives!

On the 2nd of July it was my 22nd birthday so George and I decided to jump on a plane to Spain to spend it with my family! I really wanted to bring a gift along with me, but had been so busy that I hadn’t been able to pick anything up, so naturally I decided to crochet something!

I started the night before we flew off, and realised I wouldn’t be able to finish my project before we had to leave, so I decided to bring it with me!

I decided to crochet a pillowcase that matched the houses ‘theme’.

Here was my view whilst I crocheted away on the plane:

They loved it! I’ve found that I’m not the best at joining squares together. It seems to be even whilst I do it, then once I’ve joined it all together I just don’t think it looks right!

Above is my pillow case on the sofa in our Spanish home!

Any improvements I could make? I should have taken a photo of the back, but the pillow is fully removable so that the case can be washed if needed!

The Summer of Flares!

fashion

Recently, i’ve left my university in Wales to come back home to Scotland for the summer, and unfortunately not been able to bring all of my clothes with me (as well as forgetting many many things), so i took a quick trip to TKMaxx in an attempt to find some of the essentials i really really needed! After successfully finding some gym wear, which i probably don’t need much more of but forgot to bring with me, i had a look at trousers and jeans as i constantly find myself in the same few pairs!

Unpredictable Weather Days…

Student Life

IMG_0405So today, i was meant to have gone into town to run a few errands, but the Aberystwyth unpredictable weather has yet again got in the way… One minute its torrential rain, with crazy winds, and the next its sunny with clear blue skies, but still raining. I just don’t understand. As i don’t own a car, i can’t even drive where i need to go, and i live whats classed as out of town, so the walk isn’t the shortest!

Oh, the weather outside is frightful…

fashion

This year winter has been pretty cold! And its still freezing, even if its meant to be Spring… But, theres always a fashion positive to this weather, WOOLY HATS! I know you’re thinking that this post is a bit too late, but its actually the perfect time to stock up, as the sales are on!

image3-1                               image2-1

I first bought one last winter from NEXT, which was £10, and because of the price, i felt that one was more than enough (student problems)! But during this winter period, i was lucky enough to have been bought one, and it is definitely my favourite. Its from Dorothy Perkins, and has two pom pom ears, its soooooo cute. There was the option of many colours but when it comes to wooly hats, i personally prefer to stay neutral, so that i can make the most of each!

My next hat was a difficult choice as it also came in red, which stood out and i absolutely adored! But i had to go with the cream as it just worked better with the colours of my wardrobe.
The NEXT hat isn’t currently on sale, as the shops winter stock has ended, even though i feel winter will be around for a while longer! But the Dorothy Perkins one is! I picked the black, but it also comes in a dark green and a cream colour. As always, prices vary between the colours during the sales (which i’ve failed to ever understand properly) but as of today, these are the following prices!

Unfortunately, i have had a look on the NEXT website, and the woollen hat i own is no longer available, sad face, but i’m sure they’ll come back around. I find that the next one tends to stretch out after a lot of wear, whereas the Dorothy Perkins one clings tight to your ears, keeping them warm as well as your head!

I love winter wear, especially knitwear (just received a BOOHOO package with two tops in the post this morning!) and ill be wearing it for as long as fashionably possible! These hats in this post have served me well throughout the winter, and i recommend them to anyone looking for a new wooly hat!

A gift from me to you! Thanks to BLACKTIED!

Hi guys!

Recently i posted a post about a surprise that was coming your way which involved something personalised, and here it is!

I have been in contact recently with the online independent jewellery shop Black Tied and they have very kindly created a personalised discount code for you readers, which i will reveal at the end of this post!

After communicating with them, i purchased two items off their website, which are their top sellers! These are the their pure aluminium silver cuff bracelets. You can either purchase a ready printed one with different symbols on them, or for the same price, can personalise your own with letters, numbers and symbols! This is perfect for those special, thoughtful presents, or even to remember a significant moment or time in your own life.

I bought two, and as one of these was a birthday gift, i have had to wait until today to put this post up, as they have now received it!

My first cuff bracelet was for myself, and had the coordinates of where i consider home on it. As ive constantly moved around the world for the past 8-9 years of my life, ive always had one place which i’ve considered my permanent home, this being Scotland. And i thought this was a lovely idea to have on my cuff, as i can always carry home with me, wherever i am, and whichever country i’m in. I also had the ‘ohm’ sign printed onto the cuff openings, as it is a hindu symbol that represents spiritual perfection with yourself. Its meaning is that of absolute knowledge and it encompasses all of creation. It is the symbol for divine energy and creation.

The second was for one of the best people i’ve ever met, and it was her 20th birthday recently, so i thought it would be the perfect present for her! I originally asked black Tied whether it would be possible to have the letters printed on the inside of the cuff (as i’m sure she wouldn’t want to be walking around with HAPPY 20TH BIRTHDAY written across her wrist every day) but as the printing leaves a mark on the opposite side of the cuff, this wasn’t possible. So i changed my request to having her date of birth printed, with a sun either side of it, and on the cuff openings was a 2 and a 0, creating 20 when the cuff endings were close.

When it comes to fit, and sizing, they are made in one size only. And usually this would worry me as i have the worlds tiniest wrists, and struggle to find any bracelets that fit! But with these, you can mould them into the size you need and the fit you like! They’re incredibly easy to squeeze into size, but are also amazing at keeping in the shape you put them in.

If you’re someone that generally keeps jewellery on for long periods of time these are perfect, as they aren’t the the most convenient to put on and take off multiple times, as that requires a lot of bending of your cuff, unless you like it to loosely fit.

Im absolutely in love with mine, and its definitely a purchase i don’t regret! Its just gorgeous.

If you’re interested in one of your own, or anything else off of their website, i have a special discount code which you can use at checkout to get you 15% off!

Visit www.blacktied.co.uk

CODE: BLUEHILL

This code is valid from today (20th Feb) for a month (till 20th March) which gives you a long time to get creative with your personalisation! and even possibly buy a second round if you fall in love as much as i did!

All cuffs are £12, which i feel is beyond reasonable! And other products vary in price but are also fabulously priced.

follow them on instagram: @blacktied they are very good at keeping you updated, answering questions, and posting their recent personalised orders! Seeing yours up on their page makes you super impatient, and if you’re anything like me, you’ll be checking your post box every day!

One Step Closer

ZeroSpace Apparel

Hey guys!

Finally, after busy busy weeks, we have had the afternoon free to work on our t-shirts! And guess what, they all now have our labels in them! The newer ones have our newer labels, whilst the older ones still have the labels previously sewn in!

We’re so excited about finally having them that one step closer to being complete! A few of our friends have been nagging us as they’re dying to own one, and its pushed us in the right direction!

All that needs to be done now, its to decide which would look better with a breast badge, and which would look better without (or with our new “handwritten” logo!).

If we continue at the pace we’re going at, hopefully they’ll be available to you readers super duper soon! A year late, i know. Sorry.

Today has made me the most excited i have been about these t-shirts in a while, and i just cant wait to hear feedback on them!

Procrastination Station!

Student Life

Oh just a quick one…

Tomorrow morning at 9.30am i have my final first semester, second year, university exam, and boy i can’t wait for it to be over and done with! There are just so many things i want to do and so many plans made with people i love! I want to review my brand new NuMe Magic Curling Wand, my Gel Nail Kit, as well as go through my new fashion obsessions that have helped me through this cold winter period, but all i can think about is how much i need to be going over my work and cramming in that last bit of revision!

Maybe i should get back to it now…

The Beginning

Beauty, Eat Clean, fashion, Music, Student Life, Travelling

There are so many things i want to write about! Everything from Christmas sale purchases, fashion, homemade beauty remedies, living abroad, music to clean eating (although as much as i love the idea of clean eating, sticking to it is the hardest part, especially on a student budget!) and i feel that now that the new year has come, its a great time to begin sharing and experimenting!

Now lets see how long this lasts…

Im excited.

Struggles…

ZeroSpace Apparel

University is a busy and social time, and due to this, we haven’t continued our t-shirts as we haven’t had the time! WHOOPS! We really want to get back into it and get them out to the public, but we feel like we’ve reached a mental block!

With our second year exam period reaching an end this week, we have some free time to get our creative sides back and complete the launch of our official website! And if we keep on top of things, our online shop should follow shortly after.

Many exciting things to come,
